Psa pollen heat treatment validated by Plant and Food
Pollen Plus™ is delighted to announce, following Plant and Food Research validation at an Industry Pollen producers meeting co-ordinated by Zespri on Monday 13th June, the introduction of a cleansing heat treatment which effectively destroys Psa on pollen.
Pollen Plus™ commenced work on its own pollen heat treatment in early February 2011 and has developed a two tier treatment methodology incorporating dehydration and heat. Validation that heat in fact destroyed Psa on pollen was the final requirement in the completion of our treatment methodology. This treatment will be introduced into Pollen Plus production for the 2011 pollination season.
Zespri, KVH and Pollen producers will agree and implement verification and validation protocols.
The co-operation between Zespri, KVH, Pollen producers and Plant and Food is strong evidence of focused collective Industry participation delivering a strategic pollen solution fundamental to the future of the Industry. This emphasises, in our view, Industry maturity and common determination to defeat Psa over the pursuance of individual commercial interest.

The PollenPlus QuadDuster
The PollenPlus™ QuadDuster is an evolution in kiwifruit pollen application technology. The QuadDuster delivers a digitally metered supply of pollen across the kiwifruit canopy using high performance air fans and CAD-designed volutes.
AgFirst BOP Ltd carries out the QuadDuster operation under exclusive license.
The QuadDuster bikes have digital speed control units to ensure uniform and consistent application of pollen. The fleet has GPS transponders allowing pollen application to be monitored remotely. GPS maps can be supplied to clients showing pollen application history.
PollenPlus has further improved the QuadDusters digitally metered pollen delivery system.
Subsequent to confirmed order, PollenPlus™ will text the client confirming pollen application will occur on the following day, and further when the AgFirst operator has began, and finished application.
The PollenPlus™ QuadDuster is a supplementary pollen application system designed to dust flowers with pollen, enhancing bee pollen transfer, maximising pollination.
